Esri announced today that they have acquired Procedural.

Procedural is one of the world’s leading software companies for creating stunning 3D urban environments from typical 2D data. Urban planners, architects, video game developers, and movie studios around the world use Procedural’s CityEngine product to create 3D cities at any resolution.

The next planned release of CityEngine will allow ArcGIS users in urban planning, urban design, defense, simulation, and entertainment to use their existing GIS data to create high-quality 3D content. Esri will continue to further integrate the capabilities of CityEngine into the ArcGIS platform in the coming months.
